GreenBuild’s duplex in State College is a collaboration between nonprofit affordable housing entity State College Community Land Trust and Penn State’s Energy Efficient Housing Research Group. Through the partnership, Penn State students led design, and program participant Envinity Inc. facilitated construction. The two 1,250 square-foot, solar-powered homes are designed to the Department of Energy’s ZERH Standard and certified under ENERGY STAR® 3.1. The homes are oriented to optimize solar resources, with high-performing insulation and high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
